Insert Outlook contact into OneNote

Post by cecil »

I have a project page in OneNote. I would like to have names of the project team linked to the Outlook address book. Then if I move my mouse over the name, a business card pops up, from which I can click to IM, e-mail, video chat etc. If I insert meeting minutes into OneNote, from an Outlook meeting, this feature is included. I want to use this feature on demand, i.e. without inserting meeting minutes. thanks.

No. This creates one page per contact.

What I have done is.
Create a meeting in Outlook, don't sent the meeting invite
create meeting minutes in OneNote
Copy the linked name
paste the linked name
delete the meeting minutes from OneNote
delete the meeting from Outlook

There has to be an easier way

Let's see if someone comes up with an elegant solution - I'm afraid I don't know of one.

Hans

I have more info. We are currently Using IBM Sametime for our IM. I can drag from the Sametime Contact list and get what I want. If I drag from Lync or Outlook, I only get a name and e-mail address, not the business contact card with IM/ Video Chat / Phone /Email / Etc..

I did find when searching the web, others are looking for a feature for easily adding Names and all contact info to OneNote.

I've been experimenting on this too (based on your query) to see if I could work out some "elegant" solution, but I sadly am coming up short. I've tried from both Outlook and Lync, dragging contacts, copying and pasting, exporting, creating contact groups...all without success. I think for now, the easiest Outlook route is to create a fake meeting and bring that into OneNote as you did...then just delete the other details to retail the hyperlinked contacts.

It sounds like you are making progress with Sametime.
Hope you find what you are looking for.

Rudi
