I am a Viso user that also dabbles in amateur woodworking projects like designing and building storage shelving. Also designing and building specialized shelving for special pieces of equipment.
Limitations I have found are that Visio does not have any shapes (that I have found) for what is called dimensional lumber (in the US, that would be standard 2x4, 4x4, 2x6, etc). I have to just create rectangles and size them appropriately.
What I have found useful is being able to design a cutting pattern on a large piece of plywood, for example, so that I can minimize waste and loss.
Anyone else use Visio for this? Have you done anything you would like to share? Experiences to share? Maybe if we increase the usage we can develop some in-house expertise and sharable skills.

You can attach *any* file to a post in a zip file (as long as it's less than 250 KB in size).
Best wishes,

Re: Viso and woodworking
Okay... at the risk of embarrassing myself with my poor work, I have attached several Visio files showing how I use the application for wood working and design.
i wish I could figure out how to make a 3D shape for dimensional lumber so i could drag a 2 X 4 into the image that I could twist and turn it to fit my drawing and have all the sides remain in the appropriate perspective.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Yes, I see that they are very simple plans, but useful.
