My mother's maiden name

Post by ChrisGreaves »

Is there anyone on this planet who doesn't know by now that my mother's maiden name was "Liddle"? Why am I still being asked for it?

This is not very unusual. My wife uses the same last name as she was born with, which happens to be the last name that her mother had at birth, and her grandmother.

Maybe your MMN is something that needs to be guarded. Probably find that a black hat can be well on the way to recreating your identity if he has your MMN and your DOB. Because of that I won't be telling anyone that my MMN is 'van Dunkeldorfbergersteinberg'.

Well, yes, but, it's about as ambitious a protection racket as the script-reader at the other end of the phone asking for the 3 digits of my (Canadian) postal code when it's staring right in the face of whoever stole my electricity/gas/petrol/etc. bill.

I think the world has gone crazy and has implemented the wrong sort of privacy scheme.

FWIW I invite any one seeking a career in identity-theft to wander into any high-rise building and collect all the out-of-date bills for people who flew the coop months ago.
