congratulations (and relief all round)

Post by stuck »

I am very proud to announce that my eldest son (stuckling1) has just passed his 'A' Level exams with flying colours.

His university offer was three A grades. He has achieved two A* grades and two A grades so he will be going to his university of choice.

As well he might, that is some achiement.

Only 2 people ever in our family got to Uni and both of those were 2 of our daughters. The second has taken it so seriousely that she is there 10 years later and has more ologies than you can shake a stick at and no job (not full time, she is a Teaching Assistant to help out with the cash)!!!

I've just nipped home over lunch to give him a hug. If you look in our direction you should see the grin on his face quite clearly, it's so big

Well done, lad! But I wasn't aware that Thames Valley University actually did engineering?

So, well, you know, Yeah, well, see, I wasn't born into a nice family like Stuckling was. I just got the mum & dad they sent me. THEN we all got sent to Australia, dunno why. Grew up in goldfields, sent away from home to go to school, Uni. never had no chance, really ...
Never got to sit for C-levels, let alone B- or A-levels. Never got within 20 miles of Oxford until I was 34, and even then the coach didn't stop, just drove around ...

Well done, Stuckling1! I can appreciate the level of your achievement now that your father has explained to me what the A-levels are.

I understand they are the approximate equivalent of a Master's degree at any well-known US university. :innocent:
Such as Texas A&M...! :duck:

And well you should be, stuckling1!

Congratulations. That cannot have been an easy thing to accomplish. I've known a lot of brilliant people who didn't have the determination and stamina and will to stay with it and get the A levels settling instead for lower grades and more time to have fun.

Sticking with it shows strength of character as well as intellectual ability.

Well Done !
