Pronounce SATA
This is a question for my "geek" friends - and you know who you are! Ever since the inception of the current hard drive technology that is replacing (or has replaced IDE), I've not had occasion to "pronounce" it aloud as we do so many other acronyms in our English language. I usually just say it silently in my head. So, just for grins and trivia of the day, here's the choices for SATA from one web site poll:

Re: Pronounce SATA
I pronounce it SAH-TUH (and EEE-SAH-TUH for the external type) although I cannot recall ever hearing someone else pronounce it.

Paul

I pronounce it like Paul B does, SAH TUH, but when I think about I never tried to pronounce IDE as anything but always used the initials I.D.E I wonder why that is?

Re: Pronounce SATA
The pronunciation will, as usual, vary between British English and American English.
Personally, I pronounce it like SATTER, as in Saturday.
(And it's an initialism, not an acronym! We should be precise about these matters...)

Re: Pronounce SATA
I'd (pun) never thought about it until now & suddenly realized that I pronounced them as sat-tuh & pah-tuh but always spelt out A.T.E.

Sorry, I was off celebrating 50 years of marriage and missed this post, but not wanting to deprive anyone . . . .
Being a Texan, you guys ('n gals) probly think I say it with an accent (smile when you say that, poduh!), but I say "sat´ uh"
