Many of you will know that my "life situation" includes daily visits to my wife in the veterans nursing home nearby and that I'm also a volunteer there. I mostly take residents for safety escort on outside medical appointments and it's very fulfilling for me as I get to meet and chat with some old timers, sharing stories about our families, lives, interests and other stuff.
As seems to happen about once each year at about this time, the nursing home is currently under lockdown quarantine because of something called Norovirus that's going around the building. Many of them are pretty sick and I'm lucky (so far) that my Billie is not one of them. I won't go into the details of what the usual symptoms are.
At any rate the place is shutdown and not only can I not perform my volunteer work, but I'm locked out from my daily visits with my girlfriend! I AM climbing the walls for the past few days and I hope that by the end of the week it will be "safe" for me to return to my daily routine. Life partnerships are a commanding part of our daily lives, aren't they?

Re: Climbing The Walls
The Norovirus is nasty - it's extremely contagious and, because of the symptoms, incapacitating. As a result, it hits nursing homes very hard - often a sizable percentage of the inhabitants AND of the staff is ill at the same time, making it difficult to keep things running. But fortunately, it usually doesn't last very long.
Best wishes,
Hans

My heart aches for you, Al. I hope Billie remains safe and healthy, and you have a quick reunion.

In the words of Bertha von Suttner, "After the verb ‘to Love,’ ‘to Help’ is the most beautiful verb in the world."
I'm sure you will be back using those two verbs very soon.
