The Monkey Head Nebula

Post by Graeme »

NGC 2175, The Monkey Head nebula an emission nebula in Orion. North is down. My first LRGB image of 2024. Captured over 4 nights, the first 3 sessions ended prematurely due to -3°C temperatures causing equipment disconnections. The nebula surrounds the open star cluster Collinder 84.

It's beautiful!

(It's tempting to make a joke about LRGB+ images, but better not go that way...)
Best wishes,
Hans
