Meanwhile, a little earlier on our walk there was a view that lent itself to a 'Film Noir' effect.

How on Earth did you get the great blue and only the great blues in such sharp focus?

Umm, it's not actually that sharp. The bird had been standing still for some and the camera was focused on it. When the bird then took off I tracked it and squeezed the shutter. The autofocus is pretty fast but would have been more or less OK, plus the bird wasn't flying at a great speed so the focus was near enough to get this shot.

The small black cloud near the top at the 1 o'clock position made me wonder whether the Wild Hunt was about to make an appearance. :flee:
