Moon Image 20/12/20

Post by Graeme »

Here's my Lunar Image from 20/12/20. I would have put it up earlier but I struggled a bit stacking it with a full up hard drive!

2 panels of 500 frame videos captured with Sharpcap. Frames saved as 400 x .tif files in PIPP and 2 x best 20% stacked with AS!2. Stitched with MS ICE. Tried to colour balance in GIMP but gave up, turned it into greyscales and sharpened.

That's true Rudi. But I have to confess to being a big fan of all the treasures to be found along the terminator as it moves across the face of the Moon. Like the Rupes Altai, a 427km long escarpment about a third of the way up my image. Just above that are three craters, two of them form the Lunar X clair-obscur, I just missed that one by a couple of days, it's only visible for a couple of hours each month!

Hi Graeme; assuming that your post isn't going to be followed up in a few days by a retraction along the lines of "Oops; I posted the image upside down" , have I correctly identified the scarp in your image, and the "Nectaris impact basin"?

Thanks

No Californian bananas unfortunately.

I was out tonight just practicing the NINA Polar Alignment routine, not much to image when the Moon is out, except the Moon!

Would anyone like to identify the famous crater Hansteen?

Switching to spamming mode:

Moving up to the area Kepler crater to the terminator,

20_22_49_lapl5_ap325_Drizzle15_conv.jpg

Copernicus crater and the magnificent riles, didn't colour balance, bayer matrix gives a green bias!

20_21_21_lapl5_ap443_Drizzle15_conv.jpg

North West limb, I like the illuminated central mountain in Pythagoras crater!

20_25_02_lapl5_ap315_Drizzle15_conv.jpg

Thanks for bearing with me!
