I misread the page I found searching. It gave an example but it was an example of the confusion a missing Oxford comma can cause. I failed to see that it was an example of what not using it can cause.

I'm pretty sure the record number of the word "and" in a series is 17!

I know only of five: The inn-keeper, dis-satisfied with the sign, told the sign-painter that "the space between pig and and and and and whistle" was too great.

I think the sentence "I want you to paint a fish between fish and and and and and chips" would be clearer if you put quotation marks before "fish", between "fish" and "and" and "and" and "and" and "and" and "and" and "and" and "and" and "and" and "and" and "and" and "chips", as well as after "chips".

You're an ally of that technically protectionist fella BobH.
Right?

"greaves" is shin armor. My ancestors were all vertically challenged, probably made worse by sweated labour in the coal mines and cotton mills of Lancashire. At an exaggerated 5'6" (for Bob), I am, or rather, was, the tallest in my family.
Our shortness of stature, so I am told, equipped us only for measuring and fitting armour that protected the knee and shin.
My best friend at Cap Sogeti, 40+ years ago was a Spaniard Vincent Rodilla and we learned that Rodilla meant "knee" in Spanish.

Grieves is, I think, bird droppings, possibly birds-of-prey, such as kestrels, petrels, and wastrels (although that COULD be another link!).

Now, if it's amour you're after, I'm your man!

Cheers
Chris
P.S. I note at great risk of straying back on topic, that the Osiris-Rex is shedding like I used to shed hair off the top of my head, as if anyone cares.

Lisa, it is near impossible to offend me.
Bob has tried, and failed.
:whisper: Even here on EL I am slowly gaining a reputation for being the most obnoxious (operative sylable "ox") on the board. :whisper:
