Probably another insane follower's helmet Not knowing anything about it until now, and noticing that there were no cars comin up the pass, it may well have been a staged event, filmed by a support bike.

There was, quite obviously, a helicopter or other vehicle taking shots parallel to the road.
My two thoughts, both focused on visibility.
(1) When you are that low to the ground, your look-ahead options are severely restricted. Think "Giraffe", or at least "Hond Civic vs. 18-wheeler"
(2) When you are that low to the ground, oncoming traffic's visibility is severely restricted. Think "Oh look! A snake on the road up ahead".
