that funny smell of burning plastic...

Post by stuck »

...is my credit card. Last week stuckling2 and I spent some time at our local HiFi shop listening to different amp & speaker combinations, a 21st birthday gift. Today we picked up the combination his ears approved of, yes, it was the most expensive pairing. Today we collected the gear.

Currently he's got it set up in his (empty) brother's bedroom and we've enjoyed a mix of music, from Allegri to Yes via Dupre, Porcupine Tree and others.

I just hope he turns it down before it gets to my bedtime

Be thankful it's not musical instruments, they can cost a small fortune!

Happy BD to Stuckling2.
You should have also purchased a set of sound deadening headphones for yourself.

Hey Ken, congrats on your son's birthday. :fanfare:
As a matter of fact, my son also turned 21 last week... ... but due to his being distracted by young love (and probably his future wife), my credit cards are safe (at least for now!).

I second Bobs advice, but rather earphones for you, I'd give Stuckling2 a set. That way all the house will be at peace.
Regards,
Rudi

Decent HiFi also costs a small fortune but we could only afford half decent kit so I didn't need a mortgage

As for the cost of instruments, yes, there's an amazing Korg keyboard at over £3000 he'd enjoy. Further up the scale :groan: digital pipe organs start at about £5,000 and the one he practices on at a nearby church came in at about £30,000 but that was many years ago so who knows what it would cost at today's prices.

Possibly but he didn't play anything I didn't like and he did turn it off at about 10:30pm so I can't complain.

Is that enjoyed or "enjoyed"...

Wow, to be 21! And to have access to Dad's credit card! Even better!

Congratulations to Ken's son for attaining this milestone and to Ken for living through it!
Same goes to Rudi! It is a joy to see the kids "grow up"!
