Scheduled for hand surgery Tuesday. Doc say she can pull it together and pin it without having to make an incision. If it weren't set the finger would curl toward palm and ring finger making the hand almost useless.

I wish you the best from this side too Bob.
The medical environment is almost miraculous nowadays, being able to set and pin without incision.

Ouch Bob ... you must have hit the keyboard real hard.
Good that doc can externally set it with all the hospital bugs about.

Gentlemen!

Thank you for the good wishes and commiseration. I'm now on the schedule for 08:30 AM. (Is that half eight or half nine?) :chocciebar: :thankyou:

Half eight or half nine? Both!
In say the UK or Australia it is half eight or eight thirty whilst her in Norway it is half nine (half before nine).
So many meeting errors did I make when I first moved to the far north ... and I occasionally do the same these days but I'm long retired so they put it down to 'brain cells'
Happy operating.

Thanks, Ron!

It always seemed to me that 8:30 was halfway to nine o'clock (as per in Norway). Then I had a British friend explain that it is halfway through the 8th hour which didn't make sense because it's actually halfway through the ninth hour if a day begins at the stroke oj midnight. Similarly, at age 75 I'm halfway through the 8th decade of my life, am I not?

In several parts of the UK and in Ireland, "half eight" is used as shorthand for "half past eight".

In Dutch, as in Norwegian, the equivalent of "half nine" is used, meaning "half before nine".

It's just what you're used to...
Best wishes,
Hans

Since you asked, PJ, I'll show you the results.

Warning: Not for the Squeamish
Spoiler

It actually looks far worse than it feels now. The pins will stay in for 6 weeks - they will come out early in May. This pic came from my first occupational therapy session 1 week after surgery. While it might appear to be painful, it has not been at all painful since the day after surgery when it was so painful opiates wouldn't relieve the pain. A bandage adjustment cured that.

I am using the hand to type but all pinkie keys are being hit by the ring finger.
