It makes me wonder if there is really any 'red' in the first place. We only have their word for it...

It's even more intriguing, since ColorPic shows quite a large red component when the cursor is pointed at a pixel in one of the strawberries...

Grey consists of more or less equal amounts of red, green and blue. "Pure" grey has equal amounts. The pixel that you selected has more red than those to the right of it, but the red component is still less than the green and blue components. It's the relative difference with the other pixels that makes our brain interpret the pixel as red.

Yes, I mentioned that: "but the red component is still less than the green and blue components" (I should probably have written "smaller" instead of "less").
