I found the guitar picture perplexing. Who would "forget" a left-handed guitar! These things aren't cheap, and are usually custom built!

Sometimes people leave their valuable musical instruments on the train.

Forget violins. I want know how my eight-year old continually loses his lunch-box, water bottle, homework, bus pass, sports kit, school reports, jackets, shoes, football, swimming goggles, library books, Nintendo remotes, DVDs and complete supply of pencils.

It's even more amazing how he manages to get out of the locked attic to lose them in the first place....

I used to lose almost all of my school-related possessions at least once a week when I were a nipper.

You could go visit unclaimedbaggage.com.
Maybe they will have recovered what Leiflet  has lost and you can buy it back with his pocket money.

Not quite slate and chalk, but I do recall that my pocket money was involved in the restoration process

A portapocket (or two) could add some appeal to your legs too...not so? :bingo:
