Any idea where that was? Elliott were (probably later on) known as "Elliott Automation".

Elliott Brothers was an English computer company in the 1950s and 1960s. Headquarters in London, research facility in Borehamwood, Herts. Tony Hoare, the man who developed Quicksort, worked for them in the 1960s.

The car of the transport company says "Beccles, Suffolk".

Hans

This is just a clandestine operation!
What is ACTUALLY being delivered is a big 108" LCD TV so the boys can watch the football matches at work

I worked on the Elliott Automation 4130 at York using their problematical Fortran compiler in the summer holidays from Oxford!

See where it is being delivered? They sure don't want to miss out on anything especially if you owe it.

But they need the computer to know how much they owe.

Should I be worried that I recognised the door instantly? It's Norwich City Hall.

Why would that be worrying? I assume you've lived nearby, or at least visited Norwich several times...

OK so I did live in Norwich for a short time in the late 70s and again for nearly all of the 90s but it's over 15 years since I was last there. Plus, the door is on a side street and not one you'd walk down very often nor one that is readily accessible by car. Mrs S didn't recognise it.

I like how the three guys on the truck near the cab are paying absolutely NO attention to the rest of the blokes doing the actual work... :innocent:

Like the pic....
I was squinting to read the specs, so I looked for a bigger image...

See here:
10MB hard drive (nowadays a single image will not fit on that!!!)
64K memory

Am I assuming the right price $5995?? Isn't that crazy high for a product in the late 80's?''

The OS is CP/M, so I assume it's early-to-mid 80s. And the price includes a printer...

Oops... I originally had late 70's, and then I figured that's a bit early based on the inscription in the ad. So I changed 70's to 80's without noticing I had written "late" in front of it. :stupidme:

OK...incl. a printer balances out the price a bit.

But it's "COMPLETE", too, so therefore they can ask $5995 for it.
