Re: Guatemala
WOW!
I don't know who that group is, but it sure has some sexy women in it and some jumping music.
Apparently the group is called Vaya con Dios (from Belgium), but that video didn't make that clear.
On the YouTube I saw reference to "The Night Owls". When I searched on that name I found that there is a recently formed group by that name residing in Austin, TX, which is only 65 miles from here.
Amazing what the Inter Webs produce, eh?
[BTW: ¡Vaya con Diós! is Spanish for 'Go with God' and is often used by native speakers of that tongue of my acquaintance.]

I've known the music of Vaya Con Dios for a while...and some of their songs are quite rhythmic...BobH wrote:[BTW: ¡Vaya con Diós! is Spanish for 'Go with God' and is often used by native speakers of that tongue of my acquaintance.]
Coming back to your Spanish expression... What a lovely expression that is..., to send someone on their way with God; wow! (Never knew that).

Re: Guatemala
Rudi's video clip is indeed by the Belgian band Vaya con Dios; 'Nah Neh Nah' was one of their biggest hits in Europe. They gave their last concert last month.
Best wishes,

WOW! Thanks for the link Hans.
This is news. I have know of their music for a long time and this news saddens my heart! I will miss them.

Bobs expression was VERY timely in deed, and maybe I can reiterate the expression for Geoff to the individuals of the band too (esp. Dani Klein) - Vaya con Dios!!!As of 2014, Dani Klein was performing her last international tour under the Vaya Con Dios formula.[2] Vaya Con Dios officially stopped with their last concert on Saturday 25 October 2014, in Vorst Nationaal.

I prefer the much earlier version by Les Paul and Mary Ford.BobH wrote:WOW!

Me too, but they are not singing that song; they chose it for the name of their group.viking33 wrote: I prefer the much earlier version by Les Paul and Mary Ford.

Wow. This normally never happens in Scuttlebutt.HansV wrote:Geoff's thread has been thoroughly hijacked now!
Two unusual things. One was in Antigua - I was only just getting used to people riding motorbikes without helmets - but one girl was riding a motorbike, no helmet, on a cobbled street, talking on a mobile phone - holding it with one hand. I hope she didn't need to stop suddenly. It was quite a feat.
The other thing - and I'm told its not uncommon - was an armed guard. They are common in banks and jewellery stores - but there was an armed guard, with quite a big gun, literally riding shotgun on the back of a beer delivery truck.
(Sorry to hijack this thread).

That's no different to China where they have vicious guard dogs protecting the savoured cargo.
