Death of Raphael Ravenscroft

Post by John Gray »

Raphel Ravenscroft died yesterday, 19th October 2014, at his home in Exeter, aged 60.

Raphael Ravenscroft was the chap who did the spine-tingling saxophone solo in the middle of the Gerry Rafferty song Baker Street. (That Youtube version also has part of the solo at its beginning, and at its end.)

My condolences to his loved ones.
That solo immortalized the song and it's been a favourite melody for most of my life!!

Rudi

Very sad to see such talent leave us so young. Rafferty, too, left too soon.

Always been one of my favorites. A haunting and memorable song, arrangement, lyrics and sax work.
