Yes, just back from a week down there. We dropped stuckling2 off at his college (to do whatever it is Organ Scholars do a couple of weeks before term actually starts) and then stayed in a holiday flat a few miles outside of Oxford. From there we toured around several villages. We also 'did' Blenheim Palace.

Possibly! It also involved, quote, "the best pizzas in Oxford", "sort of gatecrashing a birthday party" and a meal "on the Prof's entertainment account".
The only downside he has reported was that on one day he had to be somewhere at 08:00, which meant leaving college at about 07:45 and breakfast didn't start until 08:00 so he had to go hungry until he got back to College around 09:00.
Life is so hard when you are a student.

Re: not in New York
Without fussing to open another page of Google, what might this unusual structure be for? Is it a house, is it a castle tip severed from the main building, is it a lighthouse without the lighthouse? What might Mr Cotswold have had in mind when he built it?

Did you get to see the Ai Weiwei exhibition there, or was it not yet in place.stuck wrote: We also 'did' Blenheim Palace.

Broadway Tower is a so-called folly, i.e. a building erected to decorate the landscape, just for the fun of it.
See Broadway Tower, Worcestershire.

No, it was still being installed (the main entrance was full of scaffolding). It doesn't officially open until 1 Oct. However, there was this on the main lawn. Unlabelled but I presume one of his pieces.StuartR wrote: Did you get to see the Ai Weiwei exhibition

Strange calling it Broadway Tower. It looks more tall to me.

Re: not in New York
It will cost you the full house & gardens admission price (around £22) but either on the day (or up to 14 days after on-line) you can convert that one-day ticket into an annual pass at no extra cost.StuartR wrote:I'm thinking of going to see that exhibition if I can make the time
We didn't do it on the day but do intend to take advantage of the on-line route as we are almost certainly likely to be back in that area before this time next year and the place is so huge that even though we were there from about 11:00 to 18:00 we didn't see everything.

Ken,
They look like giant jelly beans.
Are you sure you didn't photoshop them in?
