I often take them out of the remote and drop them on the floor a few times.
Seems to get the juices flowing a bit more.
(But then again, it might just be my imagination).

Rudi

I find that putting the remote in the freezer will sometimes restore the batteries. :flee:

The whole remote?? or just the batteries!
Are you having midnight snacks that you are up at this time?

There is actually a good scientific reason for doing this. Batteries contain corrosive compounds and over time, the terminals oxidise and this creates a resistive barrier, in turn causing a volt drop. By rotating the batteries, you are simply cleaning the contact between them and their terminals.

I couldn't find my remote yesterday. I'd lost control.

Lost remotes are like elephants dying. They end up in a remote graveyard.

Had to have a p and decided to check my favorite forum and email.
Spoiler
Actually I was being facetious about the remote in the freezer.
I think one heats batteries instead of cooling them to make them stronger.

LOL

What I meant was to gently heat them as in rubbing them vigorously in your hands.

I've successfully gotten dead car batteries to fire up by swaddling them with old rags and pouring hot water over them. It generally is a one shot deal but always worth a try in a pinch.

The freezer can be really valuable.

That's why there's a song written about one.

"Freezer's a jolly good fellow".
