Having shared the precious moments with a couple of friends (whose husbands passed out at some point in the proceedings), they'd do fine until a certain point. Then all the "earth mother, breathe deeply, oh isn't this wonderful" part disappeared and "I'm going to strangle someone NOW unless I get drugs" appeared.

I was holding my wife's hand when she gave birth to our son. I had nail marks in my hands for a few days after that episode...at one stage I could quite possibly have been in more pain than her as her "longish" nails dug into my palms....(though she utterly disagreed LOL)
