One Hit Wonders

Post by Rudi »

This is one of my favourite one hit wonders... :groovin:
Chesney seems a bit "nerdy"...but i like the song nevertheless.

Hi Rudi

I was always surprised that Spirit In The Sky by Norman Greenbaum was a one hit wonder (although he did chart with another group with such wonderful songs as The Eggplant That Ate Chicago

Speaking of one-hit wonders: since this is Eileen's Lounge, don't forget 'Come on Eileen' by Dexys Midnight Runners - see this earlier thread.
Best wishes,
Hans

One hit wonder is defined as a group or singer that has only one hit record before returning to obscurity.
Spoiler
A-ha is surely not a one hit wonder band. They had a few great songs (AFAIK?!) Some of the one hit wonders listed on Youtube I have to question since the the artist who singed that song is well known. So how is a one hit wonder REALLY defined?

Rudi

In my book, it's because it's the only one I ever remember them making. A bit like ABBA - I mean, what did they do after 'Waterloo'?

Wasn't this song Spirit In The Sky featured in a popular movie? I don't go to movies (been twice - maybe - in 45 years) but I watch some on TV. Seems like it was movie about the American Vietnam experience.
