Seen any meteors yet?

Post by Rudi »

2014 Perseid meteor shower
Being down south, I don't have the best seat in the house...

If your absence does not affect them, your presence didn't matter.

Yes, Sunday 10 August was this years Supermoon!
The next one is 28 Sept 2015.

The first shot is great...you can see the detail in the craters, etc...
I'm skeptical about that image with the meteor passing through the moon!

Rudi

Hey Leif, great timing on your PrtScn. Pretty fast fingers.
Just a pity that the Google constellation has such bright stars.

If you're referring to the picture taken by John O'Neill, the bright line is lens flare, or whatever the pros call it. Anyway, it's an artifact of the imaging, not the image itself.

OK...BBC must have removed the image from the page as the one I was referring to is not there anymore. It is not the John O'Neill one, it was a hoax shot of a chunk of rock passing through the moon. (I was right to be skeptical  )

Yes, the one that was removed was obviously fake.
