Yet Another Big Sink Hole In Florida :bummer:

Sinkhole Rips Apart Neighborhood

This one is 30 miles from my house, about the same distance as the Seffner sinkhole that killed Jeff Bush last year, and small holes have opened within the extended neighborhood in recent years.

The sky may not be falling, but the ground sure is!

Wow!

(The first time I followed the link, I got some kind of bogus warning that my browser was out-of-date, with a link to update which I obviously didn't follow. The second time, the video was displayed...)
Best wishes,
Hans

That is scary stuff...and apparently there is very little that can be done to detect these...
Stay safe PJ!

The sinkhole has claimed it's first victim:
SPRING HILL — A home on the edge of a sinkhole that opened in Spring Hill was declared unsafe Monday and the homeowner was given until Tuesday morning to remove her belongings, according to Hernando County officials.

I think I'll post "No dancing or jumping jacks" signs at my house as a preventative measure. :heavy:

Having once lived in an area not too far from Seffner and Bradenton, I know that there are communities in the area where sinkholes are more common than in others. A wise consumer will seek that information before investing in a home. It is no guarantee, but it informs choice.

True, but the current home came with a built-in wife  , so I'm happy where I am :joy:
