The house in the background helps put everything in perspective.

Saw a lot of these uprooted trees on our property outside of Raleigh, NC after Hurricane Fran tore through in 1997.

Great shot, LOL...

The casual smile on the mans face I'm sure is hiding the strain of that one arm push-up
Also you can see the slight banana curve in his body and his jacket is suffering under the tugs of gravity.

Ignoring these...it is very disorientating. Cool image!

The whole effect is spoiled for me. I mean, come-on... isn't it a basic rule of photography that you not pose subjects with trees, lamp posts etc. coming out of their heads?

Hey PJ! Raleigh is my hometown. My family moved to Johnston (now Wake County) before 1735 and were 'neighbors' to Joel Lane who contributed or sold the land on which Raleigh was laid out in 1790. I was not there for Fran but visited a couple of months afterward. Hazel was my first hurricane of recollection. For years, when traveling toward the coast, you could see huge old oaks pointed to the lee of the storm winds. From the 1960s to the late 80s, I had occasion to be on Bogue Banks or in Morehead City during several storms, but none of ferocity equal to Hazel.

Hey, we have lots of logs to toss around! She wants to get into curling, but maybe she'd like caber tossing instead!

No Geoff,

Curling is where two teams of four people each get to spend about two hours throwing Scottish rocks at each other and then go off and buy each other drinks !!!

Yes Hans, I did. It's spring here and the weather is improving. Also our NHL team is out of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Thanks for noticing.

If they're out of the playoffs, are they out on the golf course now?
