Solve twice

Post by Rudi »

There are two ways to solve this equation and make it true!
What can you come up with?

101 - 102 = 1

Rudi

If your absence does not affect them, your presence didn't matter.

That is a very vague question - are there any rules?
Best wishes,

Are we allowed to add or remove anything, or do we just have to provide an explanation?

Sorry...
No adding or taking away from the equation ... only move lines or numbers.

 I cannot argue, since I left out that detail too :groan:
Sorry guys!

First Bob...on your reply without the added "rule"... Yep spot on!

Now for the forgotten rule.

Only one item can be moved in each of the two solutions.

Rudi

Spoiler
Move one of the lines of the = symbol to slightly above the - symbol, so that - becomes = and = becomes -:

101 = 102 - 1

Hans

Another one:
Spoiler
Raise the 2 so that it becomes an exponent: 10 to the power 2 equals 100:
