5-letter word: I am visible until you see me, then you can no longer see me.

Are you answering your own puzzles now Chris? Is it fun?

Rudi

If your absence does not affect them, your presence didn't matter.

No. And No respectively.
I didn't answer my own puzzle. The answer to the puzzle as you see (!) it was the solution to a clue in yesterday's crossword puzzle in the Toronto Star. (Okay; I was bored for five minutes ...)
In filling in the clue my mind wandered to another, related word. That gave me the idea for the question, so in a real sense I questioned my answer rather than answering my question.
I hope that answers your questions. :hairout: (... and never a cross word passed between us ...) ( ... that eye could see)
