Mosaic pictures

Post by HansV »

This is the start of a new series of picture puzzles. This time, the subject is: famous paintings.
The pictures have been transformed into mosaics.

Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to guess the name of the picture and the name of the artist who created it.

Here is the first one:

I can see why you think that, but no, it's not correct...

At first I thought the colors were those of the Mona Lisa, but they were in the wrong places. So I reduced the picture in size and saw it.

#2 was too difficult, apparently. Here is another one by the same artist.

The last one was actually #2a.

Here is #3, probably a difficult one again.

Thanks. pi-eater's hint to reduce the size helps tremendously, although I usually have an inkling of what I'm looking for. I must admit that #2b was the easiest so far -- I could see that one without reducing it at all, and of course that led me straight to the answer for 2a.

Now, I'm waiting for you to pick one of the reproductions I have hanging in my house.

Mosaic pictures #5

The second picture for #2 was intended to be a bit easier, but I still think it's very good that you got all these!

This one shouldn't be too difficult either...
