Update - Undeletable Folder

Post by Roderunner »

Hi again Hans & Joe, I was in the process of checking my old thumb drive for transfer/copy errors and this happened.
I found a new Undeletable Folder in CD2 & CD1 was empty. Neither could be deleted.

I have tried Joe's link and got this

All I know of my old thumb drive is its made by or called PNY and is 32gb
I now have a new thumb drive SanDisk 16gb
Watch this space for an update soon.

From the first screenshot, it looks like the thumb drive is corrupted (look at the folder size and the weird characters). I'd ditch it...
Best wishes,
Hans

Hi Hans, my PNY 32gb thumb drive has only been used on my HP Desktop pc to use MP3Tag or copy music folders to it, all seemed to have gone well.
Today I attached it to my Laptop and got this:-
RR.png
When it finished I got this:-
RR2.png
I accessed the files on PNY and was able to delete all of the corrupt files as in above image.
Isn't life fun!!!!

Will use it in my car for a few days and test again on both pc's

Do you always use the "Safely Remove Hardware" function before removing the drive. If you do, there is a pop-up dialog that let's you know when it's safe to remove the thumb drive. If you don't then the index and file tables can get corrupted.

Hi PJ_in_FL, that is one thing I always do even if there is only one file on it. This is my one and only thumb drive in FAT32 all others are NTFS, and never given any trouble.

After deleting the files as in image RR2.png it states at the top, files were moved to a folder named 'Found' on the device or disk.
I cant find it.
