Looking to replace my old build (DDR2 technology), some hardware I already have, was considering this setup:
(Oh and I like AMD chips)
ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition
Two sets of Kingston Technology HyperX 8 GB (2x4 GB Modules) 1600 MHz DDR3 Dual Channel Kit (PC3 12800) 240-Pin SDRAM KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX
COUGAR Archon Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with 12cm COUGAR TURBINE HYPER-SPIN Bearing Silent Fan and USB 3.0
Around $500 (US) for all the above

Re: Considering a new build
Is your current power supply big enough? Don't skimp there, is my experience.
How many of each type USB port?
RAM is relatively cheap. I decided to populate my mobo to the max (16GB).
I'm not familiar with the mobo and chipset you chose and cannot comment. From the cited spec it should be a great result.

Re: Considering a new build
The chip set is an octocore and I'll start out with 16GB of ram though it can take up to 32GB if I run a 64bit OS. I have a 650watt power supply in the old one I'll use in the new one.BobH wrote:Is your current power supply big enough? Don't skimp there, is my experience.
