USB External HD Samsung

WOW!!!! help

I connect my Usb HD Samsung on PC Xp... the drive is in list with letter E, double click....."Can you format Yes No"...

Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Perphs i have disconnected the Usb HD wityhout the procedure: Click on USB device, disconnect, ecc...

Try the following:

Connect the USB drive. Do not format it!
Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
Type the following, then press Enter:

chkdsk e: /r

Try another USB port, and on another PC.

I see that you typed

e: /r

You should type

chkdisk e: /r

I have some external drives that will not work on XP. Work fine on Vista + PCs.

Sal21,

I have seen the prompt to format the USB drive where I have TrueCrypt encryption software installed on a USB drive.

It is possible that it is encrypted?
