WinHotKeys

Post by ChrisGreaves »

As reported in itbusiness.ca.
I installed WinHotKey0.70.exe and hooked it up to several common (for me) documents.
Looking good ...

WinHotKey allows you to assign "hot keys" that do various things. Actions that can be done with a hotkey are:

1. Launch a Program
2. Open a document
3. Open a folder
4. Automatically type something
5. Control other windows on the screen

The main goal of this tool is to be easy to use. ....

Thanks Chris. I too have downloaded it to see if it's better than the one I'm currently using: UtilFr – Clavier+ 10.6.1

Chris, you might want to give the one I use a try before you get too locked in. I've been giving WinHotKey a run this morning and, I know I'm already biased, but it doesn't do as good a job on emitting text for typing, especially if that text is to be on more than one line, such as a name and address. Most of my "hot keys" ARE for typing routine and repetitive text.

Clavier has good help and detailed instructions for various codings.

Yes, Al.
I had read that in his web page this morning:

The "type text" feature does not work in Windows 7, 32-bit or 64-bit. All the other features appear to work. Unfortunately, the "type text" is the feature I need. Nice working and looking product other than that.

Unfortunately "type text"

Unfortunately "type text" was a tricky thing to implement and is hit or miss depending on your system and the application you're trying to type into. You might want to look at "AutoHotKey" which may work better for that function.

Myself I plan to master AutoHotkey when I have a month to spare ...
