Ccleaner and Thunderbird

Hi Folks,
what settings do you use for Thunderbird in Ccleaner? these are my default settings.

What are your intentions for CCleaner? Do you want to clear history and settings?
The default as it is is best if you intend for CCleaner to clean up your browsing history and settings.

It's probably best to clear the check box labeled Session. If you let CCleaner delete your session info, Thunderbird won't 'remember' some interface settings.

Attached are my Ccleaner settings which I have used for ages without any problem. I also forgot to say I use TBird portable.

Just a quuick heads - up. if you Google a bit you will find a lot of warnings against cleaning your Registry

Indeed, the sky can fall in if you mess with the registry but I've used Ccleaner for years with it's default settings for the reg cleaner with out any problems.

Hi Alan & Ken, I posted an image of my Ccleaner registry settings which I only use very occasionally and have never had any problems.
I was given advice from another forum member to clear the settings for FF & Tbird in Ccleaner but have been too busy to follow it up but hope to get to it soon.

So sounds to be saying that CCleaner is "good" and they probably know what they are doing with their default settings,. one generally hears good reports and reviews about CCleaner.
But maybe there could be occaisions when CCleaner might also cause problems when clearing the Registry.
From what I googled the suggestion was that "extra" unecerssary stuff caused by a non optimum Registry was not a major issue of concern anyway, So perhaps one should just leave the Registry alone ? may be

The Registry part of CCleaner is very cautious. It doesn't do much, but that is a good thing, actually. Like Ken, I have never experienced any problems with it.

The (file) Cleaner part can have undesirable effects if you tick all the check boxes and let it remove ALL cookies. But if you tweak the settings, it's perfectly fine.

As a general principle, do not let CCleaner touch either Firefox or Thunderbird.

CCleaner is a good program and I use it myself, but....
It has long been discussed at the mozilla user forum over the years that it is liable to break these programs.
It's one of the first things the gurus ask about when users report issues with either of these programs.
Moreover, both Firefox and Thunderbird are quite capable of taking care of themselves.
(If needed or desired, most of the functions handled by CCleaner can be set within Fx or TB directly.)

I would disable (un-check) all the options in CCleaner for both Firefox and Thunderbird.

That's a new one on me. Can't comment on TB as I don't use it but I've used Ccleaner to tidy up my Firefox for years and years, usually about once a week. Never had any problems.
