WinAmp - substitute for ... ?

Post by ChrisGreaves »

Winamp v5.601 has begun to hijack my SWF files (so WinAmp loads instead of Firefox).
I find that Winamp appears to have been swallowed up in a congrabulation which was foreshadowed by a Hans-Post which I had, of course, forgotten.

So ...
If you used to be a WinAmp user, what are you using now?

Thanks.

I used to use AIMP, but then again, you have a myriad of choices...

The absolute basics.
For music I use Windows Media Player and for Movies I use Media Player Classic
As I said... real basic stuff.

Not really interested in skins and features...I just want to hear the music, or see the movie!

Rudi

I have never used WinAmp. I use Windows Media Player for both audio and video. I installed K-Lite Codec Pack Basic; this lets me play all media types that I want in Windows Media Player.

WMP in Skin Mode (Ctrl+2) with the Corporate skin provides everything I need to play CDs, DVDs, music and videos.

That's where I get Media Player Classic from. It comes with the K-Lite Codec Pack. I prefer Media Player Classic for movies as it has easier controls over sub titles and a great sound booster for clips with low volumes.

Like Hans I only have WMP plus the K-Lite codec pack but I rarely watch video and only slightly more frequently listen to audio on a PC/laptop/netbook.

For video I have a decent Panasonic HDD recorder connected to my Panasonic TV and for audio I have a good Hi-Fi system, which my wife says is always too loud
