Free File size reducer

Good afternoon

I record a training session and the result is 3.5gb, i thought that by changing it to an avi might help but that is 2.2gb. I would like to burn this DVD to a CD rather than a DVD and I have searched for a (free) resizer but am not sure what I am really looking for, any recomendations please?

Why do you prefer CD? Everyone has a DVD player nowadays.

Where do you want to use the CD? In a computer or in a standard CD player?

They are intended to be played on our staff's PC's and really my ulterior motive is to use up a few dozen lightscribe discs that I have because they can then be branded rather than printing out labels and trying to align them etc.

In order to reduce the file size enough to fit on a CD, you'd have to reduce either the image size or the image quality (think YouTube), so you'd need video editing/conversion software.
If you want to leave the image size and quality as it is, you might use a recent version of WinZip with the new .zipx format - it has a high compression ratio. But then, all users would need to have a recent version of WinZip installed; it's not free.

I actually just did a quick Google and the Phillips DVD-Lightscribe discs are £2.97 for 5 in Jewel cases, a dramatic drop in price since I last bought some. So it looks like DVD and keep the quality

I find Medea Direct generally have good pricing for the UK. (e.g 50 for £19.52, but you'd need cases on top of that)

I needed some Dual Layer DVDs and the cheapest I could find in the UK was Amazon, just delivered to my door this morning.
