Button to play mp3/audio

Does anyone have any recommendations for how to set up a button so that it will play an audio file if pressed? Is it still necessary to use flash or are there other options nowadays? Thanks.

HTML5 can play audio without needing a plugin such as Flash: see Different Ways to Play a Sound from a Web Page. All modern browsers support HTML5, and all should be able to play .mp3 audio files. Support for .wav and .ogg varies - see HTML Audio - How It Works.
