This week's security panic

Post by John Gray »

Possible DNS problem on Thursday 8th March.

If nothing else you could test whether if your computer is infected with the DNSChanger virus, and from that webpage link to see what the FBI has to say about it!

Good of you to mention, for those that haven't heard about it.

Yes, we do get security alerts every week (even though this one isn't of the same kind)...

But I also looked at it from this perspective:

No Internet access = Panic.
Being infected and redirected = business as usual, i.e. fine.
Seems to be.

It seems like it's not this week's security panic after all.

The deadline has been extended to July 9th.

Some comments:
Krebs on Security: Court: 4 More Months for DNSChanger-Infected PCs
McAfee Labs: An Update on DNSChanger and Rogue DNS Servers
F-Secure - News from the Lab: Countdown to March 8th (with updated information)

Guess everyone, with infected PCs, can be lazy for another 4 months now. :groan:
