Free Backup/Restore

Post by RonH »

I installed Paragon but removed it. It lacks detail and is very slow.
So, what to use that is flexible and easy for 'seniors'
Looking at a few (of the many):
AOMIE
VEEAM
EaseUs
Ashampoo
Reading reviews shows various product bias but EaseUs seems to be popular?

Please define "flexible" and "easy" (grin).
Also: what are your goals here?

My primary backup goal is an end-of-day backup of my data files to an external drive; my secondary goal is a cumulative backup of that daily backup to a weekly backup.

I achieve my goals using RoboCopy.EXE, which used to be part of RKTools within Windows.
Knowing what I know of Microsoft it has probably changed it's name by now

I use AOMEI which I find easy, but I haven't ever had to restore anything (yet) so I don't know if it works!

 Thank you gentlemen
I have also had a peek at the Chinese/Hongkong AOMEI which looks easy to use and does the job.
Question ... is all my data using this backup only retained on my pc??

My needs are very basic ...
1. All my personal folders/files are saved each month on Ext HD's so I have no need to backup elsewhere
2. Every month I used to take a Backup of Windows/app files etc using a now, defunct, App

With my shiny new laptop I have no need other than 2.

Definitely not. I backup my stuff on to a USB connected disc. You specify which drive it is to use during the backup process.

That's what I also always do but I wondered if it is an 'only' using AOMEI. Not interested in a 'cloud'.

YOU decide where to backup. If you do not specify a cloud service, your data won't be sent to the cloud.
Best wishes,
Hans

Have you looked at SyncBack Free:
https://www.2brightsparks.com/download- ... kfree.html

I use it to backup key system files, like my Firefox profile, the dbs of my photo editing applications, Outlook profiles, etc. Plus all my data files.
