Change Default
Hello, is there any way I can set my Google Account to use LastPass Authenticator instead of SMS or TXT?
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

Re: Change Default
If you go to MyAccount.google.com then you can specify what two factor devices should be used. I have not provided Google with my mobile phone number so voice and text message are not available. So there is just authenticator, and Google prompts (which it won't let me turn off without logging my other devices out altogether).

Re: Change Default
Hi StuartR, that is roughly what I have. It never uses LP Authenticator App.

Re: Change Default
Mine only uses the authenticator app if I click on the "Try another way" link after entering my username and password

Re: Change Default
Hi StuartR, I cleared the recent history in FF portable, closed it and restarted it. I got image 1. Clicked Accept All at the bottom.
Got image 2 with email address showing then clicked next and the password was already entered. I then got image 3 but I don't use Google Authenticator.
I entered the LastPass Authenticator code and it logged me in.
I have not tried 'Try another way' yet.

Re: Change Default
Google authenticator uses the same one time password algorithm as LastPass, or Yubikey, any other similar passcode generator

Re: Change Default
LastPass can also use Authenticators from Google, Microsoft, Tooper, Duo + Grid.
I 'Tried another way' it gave the same as number 3 in my image.

Re: Change Default
I found this in a Google support thread at How to use Microsoft Authenticator with Google account.
"To get the QR code, you simply need to login to your Google Account from your browser (ie. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, etc). Go into your Security settings. Select 2-Step Verification. Under Authenticator App, select "Change Phone". Follow the steps to generate the QR code that you can scan using the MS Authenticator app and verify."
This should work for other authenticators too.

Re: Change Default
Hello JoeP, I have the LastPass Authenticator App working on my 4 Gmail accounts, when needed Google asks for Google Authenticator which I don't use. If I need Authenticator Code for Facebook or Twitter, they just ask without mentioning the Authenticator I'm using.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

Re: Change Default
The procedure I qouted above should work for setting the LastPass Authenticator App as the app for your Google account.

Re: Change Default
I have found the cause of my problem. The gmail address I use in my phone gives it as the default. All other gmail addresses use the authenticator app.
