Article: The Java Browser Plug-in is a Complete Disaster
How important / essential is it to do this?
I just browser to my Java control panel and the checkbox was active???
Should this be a concern?

I haven't had the Java plugin installed for years now - I removed it after a series of security breaches. I don't miss it.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: The Java Browser Plug-in is a Complete Disaster
Pardon my ignorance, but is the plug-in different from the "Java 7 Update 67" listed in Revo Uninstaller? I notice I don't have a plug-in if I run "chrome://plugins/" from my omnibar in Chrome, but Java is still listed on my PC installed list? Can I remove Java altogether or is it still needed?

Java 7 Update 67 is indeed the Java Plugin. I'd uninstall it completely; you'll probably find that you don't need it. If there is a website that absolutely needs it (RonH mentioned in the past that it was required for his online banking), you can always reinstall it.
Best wishes,
Hans

I normally use Revo to remove stuff but in the end I tried this:
http://singularlabs.com/software/javara/
It did the job.
