Thanks. Here is something to watch out for; it applies to other updates as well, but you're more likely to notice it with definition updates for Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) because they occur several times a day:
If you have automatic updates turned on, you may still want to visit Windows Update from time to time and let it search for updates, to see if there are optional updates that you might like/need. If you do so, there might be a definition update for MSE available. Do NOT proceed to install it - you'll get an error message, because the automatic update mechanism has already been triggered by your visit to Windows Update, and it's busy installing the definition update. If you search for updates again after a short wait, you'll notice that the definition update isn't offered any more: it has been installed in the meantime.
