Phishing for PayPal

Post by BobH »

I received this email this morning (and reported it to PayPal). Let's be careful out there.

I receive such e-mails regularly. Take a look at the real sender address - that is a clear warning that it's not what it claims to be.
Best wishes,
Hans

I agree with Hans. I have received a few of these and never responded, thankfully.
PP never seems affected by not responding.
A phony.

Ditto here as well. ~Also regularly get them purporting to come from various UK banks - Most get picked off by my ISP and marked as spam, although the atrocious grammar is pretty much always a give away!

Ahh, you poor thing Bob

I, on the other hand have, probably for the 100th. time, won €65,000,000 (SIXTY FIVE MILLION EUROS) in the Euro Lottery, as advised by email. I'm always glad that they explain the numbers because, quite frankly, I wouldn't be able to figure it out on me own.
Cheers, Claude.

I recently paid £10 to Skype for call credit (first time I had ever made a payment). About 5 days later I received an email from them confirming my £39 per month subscription. Fortunately I did check the URL they were directing me to, and discovered it was a phishing attack. I don't know if this was a coincidence or targetted.

Just received this phishing email:
Hello Webmaster

Choose to itself that to you interestingly or make a gift!
All orders are shipped via Express Courier delivery to ensure fast and prompt delivery.

--------------------------------------
I am very happy to say my Gucci watch arrived in the mail today and i am very pleased with it thank you so much for sending so fast and i will recommend your website to my friends.
Thank You!
Doyle Clifford
--------------------------------------

Click here ---> http://luxwatches2013.xx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
where xx has been changed by yours truly so you don't click on it and get stung.

Now, I'll just sit down for a while and analyze why "Choose to itself that to you interestingly or make a gift!" would make me click on the link in the first place. :flee:
Cheers, Claude.

Dear Loungers,

We regret to inform you that our webmaster Claude had to be taken to hospital today. He became catatonic while analyzing the sentence "Choose to itself that to you interestingly or make a gift!"

We wish him a speedy recovery.

:whisper: don't take this post seriously!
Best wishes,
Hans

Hans, you should have put the whisper at the TOP of your post...

I started reading ... Claude had to be taken to hospital today..... and got a shock!!!
until I saw your whisper....

Claude...glad you're OK, albeit still a bit cuckoo in your speech....

Rudi

Got another of the PP phishing cast this morning. I mentioned it because I have rarely ever received one and because they did a fair job of putting lipstick on the pig. I didn't realize that you folks outside the US receive them so frequently.
