Gmail Filtering

Post by BobH »

I discovered today that gmail filters messages to my addesses. An important email was classified as spam and sent to their spam folder and never sent to me. When I discovered that they filter email, I learned that a lot of mail had been sent to the gmail spam folder.

I use Thunderbird as my email client and have several gmail accounts. As far as I can tell, google has all my gmail accounts tied into a google account. I infer this because when I sign in to gmail, I see messages to different email addresses. I want to be able to see all messages in Thunderbird where I will set up filters that I deem appropriate.

I searched and found no satifactory answers that I could understand to instruct me how to stop gmail from filtering messages sent to my addresses.

Can anyone tell me how to stop gmail from filtering - and stopping my receiving - email addressed to my accounts?

 :chocciebar: :thankyou:

I don't think you can stop all filtering, but you can prevent Google from marking mail from specific senders as Spam.

Log in to Gmail in your browser.
Click the Setting button (the gear wheel to the left of your user picture near the upper right corner).
Click 'See all settings'.
Activate the 'Filters and Blocked Addresses' tab.
Click 'Create a new filter'.

Start typing in the 'From' line. As you type, suggestions will be displayed.
Select one or more names/email addresses.

Click 'Create filter'.
Tick the check box 'Never send it to Spam'.
Click 'Create filter'.
You'll see something like this:

You can delete or edit your filters afterwards.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks, Hans!

I had looked but didn't see those options.
