Hi Folks,
Yesterday I made an appointment online with my GP, on confirmation reply, it gave me the option to print or add to Calendar.
On selecting the latter, all I got was a file on the Desktop and nothing added to my calendar.
I use Gmail for mail & calendar. This is the file.

Re: Auto add to Calendar
Hi George,
You will need to import that *.ics file into your Gmail Calendar.
Once imported, the appointment will be added into the appropriate time slot on the calendar.
To do this, follow the steps listed here.
Added:
In addition to the above steps, here is a shortcut directly from the calendar itself...
1. Click the small + sign next to "Add a friends calendar" (hidden under the context menu in the image below)
2. Select Import

Re: Auto add to Calendar
Hi Rudi, After posting this topic, I searched Gmail/Google Help and found this as in my image.
As I already had a .ics file, I just drag/dropped it into my calendar which worked. All I have to do now, is wait for a new invitation.

Re: Auto add to Calendar
Hi Rudi, I used another mail account I have and attached a .ics file and sent it to my Gmail. Never did anything.

Re: Auto add to Calendar
Hi George,
Attached .ics files will not automatically get added to your calendar. The option you marked above (to automatically add events) is specific to emails you receive that contain the necessary metadata (date, time, venue, etc) in the email that will get added to your calendar (if that option is ticked).
To read up on this, see:
- Gmail will now automatically add Google Calendar events for emails with flight, hotel, restaurant, or ticket info (an old article, but probably still applicable)

Re: Auto add to Calendar
Hi Rudi, your two methods can be accomplished by opening my Calendar in 'month' view on clicking any date box and adding event manually. I don't have a mobile that can use the Google app.
Thanks anyway.
