Firefox can't find the server at mail.aol.com

For past 2-3 months I have had the recurring problem when signing into AOL webmail with Firefox: “Firefox can’t find the server at mail.aol.com”
Internet Explorer offers to fix the connection problem and does so by fixing the local area connection.
The problem found is :‘Local area connection’ doesn’t have a valid IP configuration."

Is this a problem with AOL or Firefox or something else? Thank you.

Try clearing the cache:
- Select Tools > Options or click the "hamburger" button and select Options.
- Select Privacy & Security on the left hand side.
- Under 'Cached Web Content', click 'Clear Now'.

Also delete cookies for mail.aol.com:
- On the same page as above, click 'Show Cookies' under History.
- Select all cookies for mail.aol.com (or perhaps for aol.com), then click 'Remove Selected'.

(Is it possible to delete (remove) more than one item at a time in the Show Cookies window?)

If you click on a site, then click Remove Selected, all cookies for that site will be deleted, even if there are several of them. For example, if I click on Eileen's Lounge in the screenshot below, then click Remove Selected, all four cookies will be removed in one go.
You cannot select multiple items in the list, however.
