Blank Emails

Post by viking33 »

This has been a recurring thing but it has now become an almost daily event.
I receive an email that my Spam Catcher snags but it is very annoying and despite trying to blacklist, mark as junk, etc., it comes right back.
It is a blank email, dated 12/31/1969 7:00PM. No subject, no From and is zero K in size? Tried to view the source but nothing but junk there.
Using the latest Thunderbird version.

Have you tried compacting your Thunderbird folders? See Compacting folders

I did not think of that but I did do that a short while ago when it came up automatically.
I see that it does mention the 1969 date though?

You might also try the following:
- Quit Thunderbird.
- Use Windows/File Explorer to navigate to your Thunderbird folder e.g. C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<profilename>\Mail
- Make sure that you display file extensions.
- Delete the inbox.msf and junk.msf files.
- Do NOT delete the inbox. and junk. files!
- Restart Thunderbird.

Hans

OK done, now to see if it works?
Stay tuned.

I'm out of ideas, sorry.

You might post a question in the Thunderbird Support forum on mozillaZine.

I checked out Mozilla and also Googled 1969 blank email. All seemed to suggest the same fixes you had posted.
So with my temper getting out of hand, I searched for all instances of .msf files in my profile and deleted the whole d** bunch of them. ( I do have backups ) Now I wait and see.

I thought you had all that stuff stashed away in your internal memory. No? :clapping:
