Gmail addresses - "alias" trick

Post by ChrisGreaves »

I heard about this on a podcast last week, and then met it again with Twitter Accounts.
Google Mail, it seems, ignores some punctuation characters in email addresses.

So if your Google Email address is "MyName@GMail.com", you can use addresses such as "My.Name@GMail.com", "My+Name@GMail.com" and "MyNa+m.e@GMail.com" and email addressed to those addresses will arrive in the inbox for "MyName@GMail.com".

I have used this, twice, successfully on Twitter, and am now anxious to learn how I can use this to trick gullible Nigerians out of $millions ...

Spammers also use this in an (unsuccessful) attempt to reuse the same e-mail address...

PS I'm not implying that you're a spammer!
Best wishes,
Hans
