Blank email

Post by viking33 »

Latest version of TB, suddenly we are receiving a legitimate email from a friend, where the only thing we get is a proper header info but a blank message. No text or attachment, just blank. Emailed her back an asked her to resend it but three times resulted in the same results?
This is the only person's mail that comes in that way. All others are fine.

Any ideas about this? Never seen this happen before.

Are you set to receive plain text? If so look at the bottom right of the status bar there should be an area that says "Plain Text". Open your blank email and right-click this area and choose "Original HTML".

If this works, perhaps your friend has recently changed her settings to send HTML only. If it doesn't, well I'm stumped. Maybe an anti-virus thing?

Try Incoming emails are blank when opened. They don't display in reviewing pane either | Thunderbird Support Forum | Mozilla Support:
right click the folder and select properties and then the repair button to re-index your mail.

Claude: I'm not sure what she is using. I'm not she knows either but I suspect Windows Mail.

John: I was set to receive Original HTML but I even tried the others, Simple HTML and Plain text and back to Original, same results but the last time she sent, the text was showing but no attachment. She says she is sending a copy of a photo. This is what is still not appearing.

Leif: Gave that a try but no difference.

Sounds to me like the problem could be with the sender's email client ?

Can you ask your friend to send an email to lounge admin so we can take a look?

Possibly. How about if I forward one of the problem messages. Would that be of any use?
What address?

My thought also.
Another thought I had was, what if she used send from her PC and now is using one of them there blinking, "smart" phones. Would it be formatted differently than a PC?

Just got another email in with a blank body, no text, after the proper header address and this was from a different person, so it sure looks like it's my problem.

I'd re-install TB after uninstalling it, deleting the relevant folder and cleaning up the temp folder, Bob.
Cheers, Claude.

I DID try a reinstall but it was an in place reinstall because I didn't want to lose my emails and Address Book info.

Any way to save them, besides using MozBackup? (which didn't work too well the last time I attempted a restore with it.)
