I'm not sure if this is a TB problem or my ISP (Verizon )
I have been getting TWO copies of most emails ( not all ) in my inbox.
They are exactly the same with identical addresses, time stamp. etc.
Sending a message to myself, results in two copies received.
I have pored through the settings in TB and went to my Verizon account settings on their site. No where has there been anything that looked like it might relate to these duplicate emails.
I DO suspect it's my friends at Verizon causing this but besides checking and rechecking things, the dual messages continue.
I guess I should actually call Verizon about this but talking to them is my last gasp resort. It's painful.
Any suggestions before I bite the bullet and call "them?"
As an aside, I'm still not able to get a copy of outgoing emails automatically put in my Sent folder. That HAS to be a TB problem but it remains unsolved.

Re: Two copies of emails?
Occasionally when my son sends me a message from his smart phone I get two copies. He's never been able to work out why it happens so we put it down to Internet mail system weirdness and delete one copy.
Then I had a customer contact me the other day, they'd received seven identical copies of an automail from our business system. Again no explanation, just irritation.

I'd totally remove TB, run a registry cleaner, clear the temp files, then re-install TB.viking33 wrote:....As an aside, I'm still not able to get a copy of outgoing emails automatically put in my Sent folder. That HAS to be a TB problem but it remains unsolved.
I assume there's a way of saving one's data in TB before removing. I would however, restart the email account(s) from scratch.
Cheers, Claude.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

I tried that method ( twice) but still no fix.Claude wrote:I'd totally remove TB, run a registry cleaner, clear the temp files, then re-install TB.viking33 wrote:....As an aside, I'm still not able to get a copy of outgoing emails automatically put in my Sent folder. Used Mozilla Backup to save the email data and accounts. You can selectively restore just parts of the back up BUT you must restore the back up to the same version of TB or it complains that the back up is corrupt. I would really like to go back to an earlier version like 16.x.x, since all seemed to work fine with that version. Googling around, it appears that others are having these problems with version 17.

I'd rather not go to Windows Live Mail. Or am I reading that wrong?Roderunner wrote:How about trying this method.viking33 wrote:Using POP.Roderunner wrote:Are you using IMAP or POP???

Re: Two copies of emails?
You are partly correct. I have tried TB installed & portable versions, I would rather visit the dentist than try them again.viking33 wrote: I'd rather not go to Windows Live Mail. Or am I reading that wrong?
If you forward your mail to Gmail you can read it on any pc anytime. Then just use whatever you want to use for sending.

Re: Two copies of emails?
I had removed Java from my system when there were apparent security problems mentioned here.
Nothing was crying ( at least not load enough ) so I kept it off.
With all of the unusual and sudden troubles with TB 17.0.5, I decided to enable Java again.
Guess what? TB started to behave itself, saving sent email copies automatically and no more two copies of incoming massages being received.
Was that the solution or was it coincidence? SWH.

Re: Two copies of emails?
Probably coincidence. I removed Java quite some time ago too and have not experienced the symptoms you describe. Also running TB 17.0.5.

I guess a strange, interesting coincidence but I'll take it.PaulB wrote:Probably coincidence. I removed Java quite some time ago too and have not experienced the symptoms you describe. Also running TB 17.0.5.
So far......so good?
