Mozilla have announced that development of Thunderbird is being reviewed, with official development being cut back. Mozilla will provide security and stability updates, but any future innovations will likely be community driven and not from Mozilla.
For more details see http://blog.lizardwrangler.com/2012/07/ ... nnovation/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird/Pr ... ance_Model" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Those links show that the final fully supported release of Thunderbird will be on November 20th, which will be Thunderbird 17, after which it will rely upon community contributions for future innovations.

Re: Mozilla downgrading development of Thunderbird
Thanks for the information, Tony. I only hope ( ) that TB doesn't become inoperable in future releases of the OS. I've used it for as long as it has been in existence and don't know how well I would succeed in changing to something else, such as Outlook.
